Ask the Expert is conducted in partnership with the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits and Executive Service Corps of Chicago and Winning Workplaces.


ACN has been serving the Chicago region for more than 15 years with expert consulting to nonprofit organizations. ACN has more than 100 member consultants who provide expert assistance to clients on a range of issues important to nonprofits including administration, board development, fundraising, facilities, finance, human resources, information systems, legal services, marketing and public relations, organizational devleopment, program development and public policy.


ESC enhances people's lives by helping to improve the management and governance of nonprofits, schools, and governments through the efforts of highly trained volunteers. Established as a 501(c)(3) in 1978, ESC has served more than 2,600 organizations in the Chicago area. Clients receive assistance in performance coaching, board development, strategic planning, establishing and building an endowment, marketing, finance, HR, and with other management concerns. Services are provided by consultants who are some of Chicago's most accomplished business and professional people. They volunteer their time, helping to keep fees at a minimum.


Winning Workplaces is a non-profit providing information and solutions to help small and midsize organizations create high-performance workplaces. Based on the overwhelming evidence that people-friendly workplaces product better business results, Winning Workplaces addresses its mission in three ways:

  • By providing a clearinghouse of information and practical tools, housed on our website (www.winningworkplaces.org) and in a monthly e-newsletter, designed to offer ideas, examples of best practices and current studies and publications
  • By annually identifying “Best Bosses,” recognizing exemplary small business leaders in collaboration with Fortune Small Business magazine
  • By helping organizations improve their workplaces through training, organizational assessments and consulting.
